THE BELOVED ENGLISH BAND, WHO HAVE SOLD MORE THAN 2 MILLION RECORDS WORLDWIDE WILL PERFORM AT SIREN!
Following on from the great success of their last album tour, the beloved British band is back in our country to perform again. After surprising us with the track “No Harm” at a hidden point on their sampler of Play It Again Sam, discovered by some fans online, and giving us the pleasure of listening to the 7 minute song “Marching Orders” (300 limited copies were available via Oxfam), their fifth studio album, entitled “In Dream” was finally released in October.
Recorded in Crear, in the Western Highlands, and mixed by Alan Moulder in London, ‘Dream On’ is the second album with the band’s new line up. Justin Lockey and Elliott Williams are now an integral part of the Editors, along with Tom Smith, Russell Leetch and Ed Lay.
After a two-year world tour, the five band members have focused on writing, influenced in particular by electronic music. The new album moves away from the classical dynamics of the rock of ‘The Weight Of Your Love’ and gives us the atmosphere of the third album ‘In This Light And On This Evening’ (No. 1 in the UK).
‘In Dream’ is an album created and written with no preconceptions. Crear, an isolated spot 10km away from any dwelling, and accessible only by a dirt road, was purposely chosen as the location to start writing demos and think about the structure of the songs. However, it had such an effect on the band, and that combined with the study overlooking the Atlantic, meant the entire disc was written and completed there.
IN DREAM follows on from ‘The Weight Of Your Love’ (2013). Previous works An End Has a Start (2007) and In This Light And on This Evening (2009) entered the UK charts at number 1, and subsequently both discs went platinum. Their debut album The Back Room (2005) has sold more than 500,000 copies in the UK.
The band are:
Tom Smith: lead vocals, guitar, piano
Russell Leetch: bass guitar, synthesizer, backing vocals
