Calcutta was born and lived in Latina and Rome. Since 2011 he played the length and breadth of the peninsula, in the clubs, in basements and in people’s homes. He sings of pontine trips, real or imaginary love affairs and little things that surely also happened to you. In 2012 he recorded a record for Geograph Records called “Maybe …” (2012) and earned a small following.
On the 30th November, 2015 “Mainstream” was released and it was published for Bomba Records in collaboration with Pot Pot Records.
The record, produced at Studio Nero of Rome by Calcutta and Marta Venturini, was mixed and mastered by Andrea Suriani, under the artistic supervision of Nicholas Contessa, at Alpha Dept Studio of Bologna.
“Mainstream” is a pop record comprising of 10 immediate love songs. It’s a record for everyone but probably there is not even any need to say it.
Since the release of the album, Calcutta has become a great little phenomenon, attracting the increased attention of the public, of the press and of the web. His concerts are literally assaults by crowds who sing by heart his irresistible songs.
